Diagnosis Knackered

Well the pc man came and went! Leaving me with the delightful news that my pc is officially knackered! Kaput! Finished! Beyond repair! Are you getting the idea...?

So, I now have to choose between spending my hard earned money on flights to America or a new pc...!

Think the pc is going to have to wait :-(

look fwd to hearing about your trip across the pond OG...and a good idea had by Vi, am sure you could pick up a secondhand laptop on Ebay or a cheapo one in the sales.

Curry's has a "pay nothing until 2008" deal going on now, and a new desktop without monitor will cost £350ish.

Have fun in the states

If you buy a new PC (especially from somewhere like Currys) for less than 500 quid or so, make sure it'll handle Vista.

A lot of places are getting rid of their older stock on specials knowing damn well that they'll not be able to handle the new OS.

(You'll need at least a Gb of RAM and a pretty decent hard drive and graphics card for Vista unless you want it to keep crashing on you)

That was a public service announcement from JW - thanks for listening ;-)

So sad, if that's what it really comes down to. But please tell us it won't mean less posts from (e)og.

Not so much kept it quiet sleepy as it's not until May so haven't really thought about it.

I don't know Kris... where is your little corner...?

Thank you Wayne, I think that is certainly the plan!

Thanks Vi, Goro and Boy, but at the moment finances do not even permit a second hand mouse, let alone a pc!! It's not easy being a single earner with 2 kiddies! Plus I'm hoping to buy a house at the end of the year, so don't really want to take on more debt at the moment. Trying to get rid of some!!

Thanks for the public service announcement JW. I will bear it in mind when I finally save. (Though I don't have a clue what you are talking about! lol)

Sad indeed Alfie. And bloody annoying too! Ah well, that's what you get for a life of financial debauchery...
