Itchy feet!

I have come back from my recent travels, with nothing but further travels on my mind!!  Fortunately for me, in unfortunate times, my Mum has left a small inheritance which will be enough to clear my bills, freeing up a significant amount of monthly income, and have some left over for holidays!  So, holidays are being planned, and more than that, booked!

So far, I have booked...

- London with X for 2 nights in London Town, including a show, for my birthday at the beginning of December.

- Edinburgh with X and Y (unless he's got a bloody job by then!!), and my sister and bro-in-law for 4 nights over New Year, for Hogmanay celebrations.

- Iceland with my friend CJ for 3 nights in February, to see the Northern Lights (hopefully!).

- Good old Butlins in Skegness with X, along with friends Bridey and accompanying kids, and new mother Disco, with (by then) 6mth old Disco Junior, for the May bank holiday week.

- Back to Scotland again for the August bank holiday week, with X, and maybe Y.

Other plans for the year include something for the October half term (I was hoping for Orlando, but pennies may not stretch!), and hopefully, Lapland for Christmas!

Next year, I'm hoping to do a month long round the world (currently, London, Miami, LA, (maybe Vancouver), Auckland, Christchurch (to see the fabulous ATM - not that she knows it yet!), Singapore, Dubai, London) over the Christmas/New Year period.  Finances for that are yet to be sorted!   Plus, a week or two in the year just to keep the itch away.

Hopefully, that should keep me occupied for a bit :-)

Out of the blue

My lovely friend Disco came to visit last night, and we had a lovely time catching up and discussing men, as she has just split up with her boyfriend (again!). I was bemoaning my lack of activity in the men department and how I had had absolutely nothing to of interest to report since the very brief distraction of JB. Who, if you remember, never replied to my valentines email and has been quite quiet on the facebook front ever since, and rarely, rarely texts me!

Well, not 24hrs after discussion of him, randomly out of the blue he texts me! For prosperity, as follows:

Hi hun, just saying hello, hope ya all good xx

Hello my lovely, how are you? You seem to have been a bit quiet lately, all okay? x

Yes hun, all good. Been working a bit, ha, gonna move in with *mutual friend soon. Thinking about fucking off, wanna go to Norway!

Well that's good on both counts. Can completely understand where you're coming from, I love England but SO want to travel the world. Maybe some day for both of us! Let me know when you have a new address or are about for a catch up, I still have your pressie. x

I will do hun. I will take you up a mountain one day soon. Its quite scary so I may have to give you a cuddle, naked is a given, ha

Lol, I'd need some serious reward to get me up a bloody mountain :-)

Ha, it's a reward just to see the view hun, but if you come with me, good food and a night under the stars, its beautiful.

Will be in the *local pub tomorrow about 3 if you free hun. Be good to see you x

Am working tomorrow :-( Might get off bit early and have a free hour about half four. Will give you a text if can make it. Take care hun x

How very random! I'm not sure quite what to make of it to be honest, but will see what tomorrow brings and see how I feel then. I might just pop down the pub for an hour, see how the land lies! Quite amusing though! Perhaps my new heart factory is working after all!

Off out

I have been very remiss at blogging activities lately, so am trying to at least take the time for a quick update - I know my life is not the most exciting of late but I am sure I have been doing much more than I have been blogging! So, in the spirit of that, I am off to Disco's in a few minutes (just letting X get off to sleep before I sneak out!) for a girly house warming night in. Good job it is a) girly only and b) a night in - cos frankly I look like a sack of crap and have absolutely no inclination to do anything at all to remedy that :-)

Drunken bum

I apologise for any rambling posts over the weekend - I managed to get myself pissed, by myself, on 3 glasses of 15% dessert wine on Friday night and didn't get to bed until 2am, followed by my birthday pyjama party on Saturday, where accompanied by Lily, Disco, Suze and Jamie I proceeded to drink much more wine before falling into bed approximately 4am. In fact, as I'm typing this I can see the huge bags under my eyes reflected in the monitor!

So, to catch up briefly, had a night out to a Northern Soul and Funk night the Friday before last, where much stupid dancing was done, alongside laughing with the girls, and catching up with some old faces I haven't seen in a long time, which is always nice. So that, combined with this weekend of late nights, plus plans for a party Saturday night, followed by a night out next Friday, my social life is looking up but my pockets are looking emptier and my face is looking tireder. Never mind, I suppose I should make the most of the offers while they come.

Money has not been helped by the fact that Christmas is fast rolling round, which I absolutely love, and after 4 years, finally doesn't feel marred by the DM situation. I am having the family to me this year, for the first time, so there will be Little Sis and hubby staying Christmas Eve again, which was lovely last year, and then we will be joined by my Mum and Littlest Brother on Christmas Day - where hopefully my Mum will make sure we manage to eat an edible Christmas dinner!! For the first time ever, I think, I am really organised this year - nearly all my presents are bought, some of them wrapped, and I even have my food ordered online for delivery on 22nd December! I am feeling very smug about it all - though have to admit it's more need than planning, as I just don't have the disposable income to leave it all to the last minute like I usually do.

Not only is Christmas impacting, but maintenance from Y's dad has stopped completely, and for the foreseeable future as he has just been diagnosed with Schizophrenia at the grand old age of 40, and been sectioned under the Mental Health Act. I've had to tell Y, who is always backward at coming forward at the best of times, which has been awful, and we're just trying to make it a normality - because I'm assuming this is likely to be an ongoing issue that needs to become part of his life, and mine by default. I'm also trying to ignore the paranoia about how such things run in the family, and take faith in the fact that there is no other mental illness in his family and that they believe this has been brought on by long term alcohol dependency, which hopefully my Y will avoid! On top of that, my poor boy has A Level exams in January, in at least 3 of his 4 subjects, and he is struggling with that - so I guess the next month or two are not going to be easy going!

On the bright side, I am off for nearly a fortnight over Christmas, and I just can't wait!!

Tired

I am getting so old! I just can't handle the late nights like I used to.

Had a great time with Disco and friends last night, started off in one pub for a while for lots of chatter, before the majority of us moved on to more of a towny place for more drinking and dancing. I'm not a great lover of the typical town centre pub/club, but if I'm in the mood then I can pretty much deal with anything and I was quite up for a night out last night so all was good with me. The fact that Disco's brother was there and looking particularly hot also helped the night fly by - though nothing more than looking, a. he has a girlfriend, and b. he is Disco's brother! That would just be too, too weird. Oh and c. I think he's only 30.

So, after not leaving the pub til 3.30am, and then dropping off Mrs Smiler and another mutual friend, it was 4am by the time I got in, which meant I pretty much headed straight for my bed, where fortunately I was able to remain until lunchtime today, as X was at her dad's last night.

That said, I'm flaggging again now, and feel the need to settle down on the sofa for a while - after a quick trip to the shop for some medicinal chocolate...!

Venturing out

Well I'm off out tonight, venturing out into the continuing wind and rain, to catch up with Disco and a few friends in nearby town. It is Disco's birthday celebration but I'm not sure how celebratory she will be as she has just split up with her boyfriend so not at her best. I'm surprised at how up for it I'm feeling to be honest, usually I think I'll go and then as it gets nearer I get quite "can't be bothered" about the whole thing, but tonight I'm good to go.

Talking of which, better get those hair straighteners on!

October?

Did we have one?

Yes, I have been significantly slack at posting yet again - though there should be light at the end of the tunnel as my mum is getting me a (secondhand) laptop for my birthday/christmas! Yay!!! I will be back in business in the new year for sure! And determined to have a more exciting year next year! (Yes ATM I think AG's prediction may be starting to take effect!)

So, in the missing month of October, plus the start of Nov, the following highlights have occurred:

My baby sister's 23rd birthday (yes, it is sickening!)
A really great Rod Stewart and Queet tribute night with Lily, Gerii, Ava and Meg
Some more musical enjoyment at a Seth Lakeman concert (check him out - I had never heard of him before but he was great)
My dad's 68th birthday
Completely drenched Halloween cum Fireworks night at The Bride's
Typical crap friendness by late posting of ATM's card and pressie for her 37th birthday (hahaha, no hiding the truth here ATM!)
A whole week of peace and quiet when X went away with the school
Having to pay for the week of peace and quiet when X was poorly and had to miss Disco's birthday meal at Moroccan restaurant

And that's about it!

See you soon.... hopefully!
