Happy Birthday to me...
Having spent a lovely day with my sister being pampered at Ragdale Hall today I now have a banging headache! Bit rubbish! Maybe Babycham will help...!

That Time of Year Again...
Last night involved a night out with the usual clan for the obligatory birthday celebrations (this year's consisted of much jigging and bad Irish dancing to a Celtic band in a nearby town!), and Mr DDE (Drug Dealer Extaordinaire) did indeed turn up with my (and his) friend Disco! He was a bit reticent to come down to join us (too many people, too crowded, too hot, blah blah), but I'm not a woman who easily takes a No, so with a little persuading and leading by the hand (literally!) he came and joined the fun, though was obviously not the most comfortable. Bless!!
So, some chatting and mild flirting (from me, can't help myself) occurred, but nothing significant. I was driving, so cracking on fully would have been a big deal involving much discussion with mates getting lifts, and I'm not 100% yet! I do like him, find him funny, there is a definite (and I think mutual) twinkle, but not feeling desperate to rip his clothes off! (That said, I wasn't desperate to rip DMs clothes off the first night, but once done... well we all know that story... !!).
On saying goodbye, with obligatory hugs, etc I did say to him "Get my number from Disco and we'll catch up in January when I'm back", and he said he would, so the balls in his court now. Have to say I'm mildly miffed that he hasn't already requested it, lol. I'd ideally like to have seen him and got a better sense of things ( and at least a snog!) before I go away, but then I've never been the most patient, lol.
I have had some girly text conversation with Disco this morning, who reckons he won't know I'm putting it out there because all could be construed as just friendly, which is how I've played it, but knowing her I'm sure she will be meddling and I'm kind of OK with that! Watch this space I guess...

42 today
In all honesty, birthdays are pretty shit when you're 42, single and celebrating near Christmas time. I am feeling distinctly underwhelmed and very unloved today. Definitely not my best birthday, though equally not my worst, so blessings should be counted....!

Birthday time
It's my birthday!
After a late night with the girlies round, I'm currently I'm lying in bed writing this on my Kindle Fire (little birthday present to myself, ahem), before getting up and heading off to London with X to see the sights.
Yay for birthday weekends!

How old?!
Well, that time has come! As hard as I find it to believe, the big 40 has finally caught up with me!! I am, today, officially 40! I have absolutely no idea how that happened!!
Last weekend saw 9 of us girlies heading to log cabins in the deep dark woods of Lincolnshire, with a lovely spa on tap! A great time of extending girly bonding was had over Wii Sing, Sex and the City, shopping, Christmas food fairs and relaxing in the pool! Not to mention copious amounts of alcohol (even for me!) and endless deliciously rubbish food.
Today, has been a quieter affair, but pleasant none the less, and I have been positively spoiled with presents. So, another year rolls by, and will hopefully bring with it a return to some of the adventures of my youth. I can certainly feel a mid-life crisis tap tapping on my shoulder, and am half expecting to go completely off the rails at any moment!

Another year wiser?
Well I am a whole year older than I was when I last posted. Officially anyway! I reached that grand old age of 39 yesterday, on the 1st day of advent.
As birthdays post-DM go, I was actually looking forward to it for much more than I have ever done in the last 5 years (I know! I cannot believe where that has gone!) Unfortunately, it turned out to be pretty shit, at least in the day time. Not only did I have to get up extra early for Uni (not helped by the fact I was still up doing my assignment at 2am that morning, in typical OG last minute fashion), I then missed my train (by going to the wrong platform like a durbrain!), and the following was delayed by 25 minutes due to the snowy conditions, so after an early start I was still late for Uni! I also had a presentation to do, which was okay, but not my idea of a great birthday.
Uni over, I came home, only to discover that the club that I had planned for my birthday celebrations had had the music event planned called off (due to the weather again!), and then spent the next hour trying to get in touch with everyone who was planning to come to rearrange to a different, last minute venue. The rearranging was not helped by the fact that my laptop decided to play silly buggers with me and kept refusing to boot internet explorer, so I didn't even have the assistance of Facebook to help me!
Eventually, after a little afternoon nap, and opening of my pressies I perked up a bit, and actually the evening turned out pretty good. Even if it wasn't the original plan!
So, another year older... another year wiser? I'm not so sure about that!

Rushing by
Well I'm officially a whole year older since the last time I posted!
Went out for all you can eat Chinese with X,Y, work colleagues and partners on Friday night, which was both delicious and muchly pleasant. Last night was spent bowling followed by drinks (with a bit of dancing thrown in) at the local dive, accompanied by my sister Lottie and friends Bea, Lily, her sister Daisy, Gerii, Disco and Joy. It was a really nice night, although my bowling skills left a lot to be desired, and great to catch up with folks.
I also had some great presents, including Thorntons chocolates and a cactus from X, a silver heart necklace from Y, 2 series of Charmed on dvd from my mum, £20 from my dad, expensive salon hair products from work, Garnier face products from Disco, a new silver watch from Bea, and a funky Roxy handbag all the way from New Zealand (via Australia!) from JRTC! Not to mention the Creme De La Mer facial scrub and Estee Lauder face cream I treated myself to!
Alas, none of the following face products, phone or jewelry on my 'far too expensive to ever actually obtain' list were forthcoming, but one can but dream!
The housebuying is still on track - though still incredibly early days unfortunately, and as it stands right now...
- the application to the regional housing association to register for a property has been completed and sent off
- the application to the local housing association for that particular property has been completed and sent off
- a mortgage company have agreed a 2yr fixed (extortionate due to poor credit) rate mortgage that will skint me but is affordable
- my sister has agreed to lend me £2k, to be paid back when my Alliance yearly saver is up next January
I now need to complete the mortgage application form, get a mortgage guarantee certificate and send that in to the local housing association, and then wait to see if I'm eligible for shared ownership, and finally, if I'm then offered the house. Not too many hoops to jump then! The good thing about everything being brought forward is that they look at offering the houses around 8-12 weeks before they are built, which works out as the end December/beginning of January - so not too long to wait for either good or bad news.

Another year!
My head is hurting!
For those of you that remembered my birthday, and commented, thank you very muchly. I am flattered :-)
Did I mention my head hurts by the way?
Birthday synopsis...
Tralalalala

Birthday synopsis...
Tralalalala
- Lots of lovely birthday wishes.
- A relatively easy day of training for work
- Lovely evening with dozen friends, some of whom I haven't seen for a while
- Yummy scrummy chinese food
- Some really nice/cool/thoughtful pressies
- Dancing in favourite pub
- Lots of laughing until early this morning, helped by copius (for me) amounts of plum vodka and ouzo (yes you did read that right!)
More ah than tralalalala
- A wobble - it's a year that I've been officially single, although it took me until 4.20pm to realise I hadn't had a birthday text from that individual. I wasn't expecting one, and I didn't really want one to be honest, that door is closed now, but having the thought and realising the progress that I've made for it to take so long to come is kind of what upset me. (Not sure that makes sense, but there you go!)
- I think I've seriously set the ball rolling in terms of finishing it with CM, which is not a pleasant thing to do, especially not at 5.30am after a birthday night out!
- I drunken text Sexy Gardener :-/ (Nothing too bad on checking this morning, thank god).
- And did I mention my head hurts??
And I'm supposed to be going to a party in home town, followed by a funk night over in local town tonight! Think I'm too old already....
